Stimulating Railway Simulation

20 MAY 2011

Allan Cannell of KiwiRail will be presenting the new P13 passenger bogie design process for the RTSA later this month. Motovated designed and analysed these bogies for KiwiRail, and our virtual prototyping and fatigue analyses provided confidence and certainty to the design upfront. Following virtual prototyping, physical testing has confirmed our confidence, and has already simulated 30 years hard running - without ever turning a wheel!

Later this year Tranz Scenic will introduce a fleet of new passenger cars (which will be the subject of a later presentation). This new bogie will carry these passenger cars and has also been engineered in NZ as part of a unique design and development project. These bogies are being fabricated at Hillside Engineering in Dunedin, so it is an excellent NZ success story!
