Motovated Design & Analysis Newsletter - Autumn 2003

Analysing complex weldments can be a breeze…

Have you got a complex weldment that's showing signs of fatigue, but you just can't seem to analyse it correctly?  Obviously half the battle is getting realistic loads to apply, and we're pretty good at that.  But even better we've developed some very straight forward and robust modelling techniques to help make running a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a breeze.  Weldments have always been a challenge, but we think we've got them licked.  The proofs in the pudding, so give us a call to discuss your problems or our success stories!

Motovated Design and Analysis Website Launched!

Motovated has established a world wide presence with it new website. Though not entirely finished, it's a work in progress, and we hope it gives a significant feel for the type of work we do and how we go about it.  In the near future, we hope to include a series of articles on how to work with mechanical engineers, and even some detail on how we work, and why we do things the way we do.  Once again thanks goes to customers that have contributed their valuable renderings to the website.  We value your feedback, so pop us an email if you think something is not quite right!

Engineers are helpful, even in death…

An engineer dies and reports to hell. Pretty soon, the engineer becomes dissatisfied with the level of comfort in hell, and starts designing and building improvements. After a while, they've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and the engineer is a pretty popular guy. One day God calls Satan up on the telephone and says with a sneer: "So, how's it going down there in hell?" Satan replies: "Hey things are going great. We've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there's no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next." God replies: "What??? You've got an engineer? That's a mistake - he should never have gotten down there; send him back up here." Satan says: "No way. I like having an engineer on the staff, and I'm keeping him." God says: "Send him back up here or I'll sue." Satan laughs uproariously and answers: "Yeah, right. And just where are you going to get a lawyer?

Recent Successes

We've had quite a bit of fun with booms and sticks for forestry specific excavators in the past couple of months, and here's a couple of renderings of Steel & Track's CAT 320C and CAT 325C versions.
