Not only do we have talented mechanical design engineers with hands-on skills and amazing 3D CAD design competence, but they are supported and enabled by Motovated’s Better by Analysis® methodology.
Our mechanical design engineers are handpicked for many specialist skillsets. Some of them are similar to other machine design engineering consultancies, like great 3D CAD skills. We expand this even further however. Our engineering design consultants can help streamline your CAD design processes.
First by having most of our mechanical design engineers trained to be multi-CAD literate, we differentiate the CAD competence of our staff. So, while many machine design services are good at SolidWorks, Solid Edge or Inventor, most Motovated Design and Project Engineers can drive all three. Your machine design can occur in whichever CAD system you chose. We even have skillsets in Rhino, CATIA, Creo (ProE) and NX (Unigraphics)!
Secondly, we not only train them in several softwares, we enable ongoing training so each week our mechanical engineers are continuously expanding their skillset. Other mechanical engineering consultancy’s engineers are often limited not just limited to one CAD package, but often they are limited within that package to the part, assembly and drawing environments. At Motovated our engineers get trained up and have proficiency in the sheetmetal, frames, weldments, piping, motion and simulations environments at a minimum. These environments make sure our CAD development of your machine design is as efficient and professional as possible.
Thirdly all of our machine design engineers understand the value of the programming of often completed tasks. Simple things like keyboard shortcuts are common, but at Motovated we use the Macro environments of all of our softwares effectively, then expand that with Visual Basic, Python and other programming tools to do repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently. For example, hundreds of PDF drawings for your machine can be produced in minutes at Motovated, a task that might take hours or days in other mechanical engineering consultancies.
Finally, our CAD capabilities are world class because we have on staff CAD Advocates, engineers that are so keen on one software that, as a firm, we can become expert at our implementation, learning and use of that software. These CAD Advocates work with our IT Specialist to ensure that our hardware and softwares are optimised for the task that our engineers are asking of them.
These amazing machine design services team are supported by our Better by Analysis® methodologies. Better by Analysis® leverages off of Pareto Principle. Pareto Principle tells us that for 20% of our efforts provide 80% of the value. We know this ourselves, as the last 10% of the job often seems to take 90% of the time! But Analysis to Machine Design is like Pareto Principle on Steroids. For 10% of the cost and effort our Founder Greg Morehouse provided for Hercules Aerospace or Boeing, we provide our clients with 90% of the value. The earlier Analysis is brought into the Machine Design process, the more value it adds. That’s why our Analysis Jedi, Leon Daly, has developed the Minimum Viable Simulation® methodology. This method prioritises the tasks not by component, but by consideration of risk, knowledge gaps and required effort etc. E.g. even if several analyses might be desired on a single component, it is more often more effective to analyse the highest priority task and come back to complete the rest of the analyses as your machine design progresses. Most mechanical engineering consultants, and especially the more competent engineering analysis firms, spend lot of time analysing components which either are significantly changed or don’t make it to the final product at all!
